Another amazing adventure this weekend!

Sorry for the continuous posts...I'm not very good at journal writing and have really enjoyed using the Blog as a means for documenting our lives plus, you can print it out.

Anyway, this past weekend we were able to see quite a bit! Just over an hour of us, to the West, were the following hot spots: Gordes, Les Bories, Abbaye de Senanque, Fontaine de Vaucluse and a tour of the Petite Luberon.

Gordes is a hilltop village that spills down in terraces:
The architecture here is a bit different. If you notice, the rocks are stacked a certain way giving it a different look other then the typical cement structures.

Just outside of the town is a place called Les Bories. These are ancient dwellings know as "bories" were made from limestone. They date back to 2,000 BC and were regularly rebuilt using the ancient methods. These were used for shelter. There is no mortar between the rocks.

After this we traveled to the Abbaye de Senanque founded in 1148.

Our next stop was to Fontaine de Vaucluse! Oh...to die for! Such a beautiful town hidden in the hills on top of an underground water source from the Sorgue river.

The water here is so clear!
There is a Moulin a Papier (paper mill) beside the river....Seneca loved this!
The last part of the day we decided to take the Petite Luberon route back home.

This was also a hilltop town called Bonnieux. Very cool town!
Just outside of Ansouis we saw these beautiful Sunflowers...we had to get a shot!
Yes, I know what you all are thinking, but I had to take one! I love them! This is me walking as quickly as I can to our car in the background...

That is it for now! We will post again about Bastille Day and the Tour de France in Gap.

ciao!
